Fire Safety Inspections
Has your building had it’s annual fire safety inspection?
Today I am going to go in depth on what happens during the inspection, and why it is so important to have one completed every year.
- Have exits and escape routes inspected – This is important to make sure in case of emergency everyone can safely leave the building.
- Check electrical systems – Techs will check all electrical points to make sure all outlets, circuits, extension cords are in good shape with no damage.
- Check all emergency lighting – This is to make sure all exit signs and pulse lights are in working order.
- Fire Extinguishers – All extinguishers have to be inspected every 12 months. This also checks to make sure they are kept in their proper places and heights.
- Test fire alarm system – Fire alarm systems should be tested once a year to make sure it properly goes off when needed.
- Test sprinkler system – Much like the fire alarm system tests, the sprinkler system should be tested at least once a year.
- Inspect special suppression system – Your fire suppression system should be tested at least annually to be sure it is functioning as well as it should be.
- Inspection of all heat producing equipment – Check over all gas fired heat producing equipment and space heater to make sure there are no blockages or leaks.
- Test all smoke and carbon monoxide alarms – Test each one by hand and check that each alarm has two sources of power.
- After all inspections are completed we will generate a full report.
Most insurance companies require a full fire safety to be completed every year with a report turned in.
